For all the workshops, there will be one teacher and a skilled assistant to help you, ensuring personalized guidance tailored to individual learning speeds.
Workshop 1
Cable Knitting Masterclass
During the workshop we will cover the following topics:
Cable knitting is like shaping a sculpture in knitwear. Three dimensional cables are Linda’s largest inspirational source and fun to knit. The Cable Knitting Masterclass will teach you to:
- Knit cables with one, two or completely without cable needles
- read and understand abbreviations and charts
- change cables in width and length
- end cables at neck and shoulder
- correct a wrong cable crossing
- knit reversible and I-cord cables.
- In addition, Linda will give you useful advice. When you have learnt to master cable knitting, you will be able to make your own!
- Basic knitting skills: knitting, purling, and increasing
- Beginner: colourwork and cabling experience helpful
- Circular knitting needles between 3.5 mm/US 4 and 6 mm/US 10
- Suitable yarn to selected needles in light colors
- 2 cable needles in different colors or materials
- Crochet hook
- Stitch holders / wire (if preferred)
Workshop 2
Colour Your Cables!
During the workshop we will cover the following topics:
How can you highlight a cable? The answer is to color it and there are several ways of doing this. You can choose to work your cables in a different color with stranded colorwork or intarsia. For the most extreme result, why not add pleated I-cords or make an extra layer of cables.
Dive into the different options of coloring in your cable and mix your own cable colors.
- Basic knitting skills: knitting, purling, and increasing
- Beginner: colourwork and cabling experience helpful
- Circular knitting needles between 3.5 mm/US 4 and 6 mm/US 10
- Suitable yarn to selected needles in 8 to 10 different light colors
- Scissors or yarn cutter
- Darning needle with a blunt end
- Stitch holders/wire (if preferred)
- Design journal or notebook and color pencils (if preferred)
