In this presentation, Marie will share the inspiring story of her journey in knitwear design. Though she began in science, her love for art and textiles led her to study knitwear and build a remarkable career. She started designing machine knits, then became head designer at Rowan, where she shaped collections, styled photoshoots, curated Rowan Magazine, and helped develop new yarns. Marie will tell stories from her years at Rowan to her work today as an independent designer with her own yarn range created with John Arbon Textiles.
Marie is also bringing a selection of designs from her book collections for us to enjoy up close!
Workshops 1 & 2
Marie's Fair Isle Cushion
During the workshop Marie will cover the following topics:
In these two workshop sessions, Marie will teach you how to knit Fair Isle flat, sharing practical tips and techniques to build your confidence. You’ll work on a Fair Isle cushion project, learning how to knit sections off each other. Along the way, Marie will cover Fair Isle do’s and don’ts, how to weave in ends neatly, and how to pick up stitches. The project will use Marie’s beautiful British Breeds yarn.

- Basic Experience in knitting stranded colourwork
- A range of circular knitting needles sizes ranging from 2.75mm to 3.5mm, allowing you to adjust depending on your personal gauge.
