Each morning, wake up to breathtaking views of the Karwendel and Brandenberg mountains rising above Lake Achen’s clear blue waters. Just a 10-minute walk away, a cable car awaits to carry you up the mountains for breathtaking views of the lake.

Local legend has it that a thriving village once stood where Lake Achensee is now.
One day, a poor old man sought shelter and food but was turned away. He cursed the villagers in anger and heavy rains flooded the village, submerging it forever. On clear days, visitors might even spot the tip of the church tower shining through the water’s surface.
